Week 9 Categories and Comments to Colleagues

Sunday Categories Post

Okay, I started a blog on Wordpress and linked it to Facebook and Twitter accounts that I am using as Papercraft by Karl.  Wordpress got confusing fast.  Oh?  Why did I go to Wordpress?

Well, I was reading the material for this week and there was the homework to discuss categories.  I could not figure out how blogger used or has categories but the searches talked a lot about how Wordpress uses them.  And, since I said I was going to start one there anyway…

However, I could not initially get it linked to my Papercraft by Karl FB page…  I had to log out of my FB personal page and then when I tried to add FB to WP it listed the PBK page : )

Okay, categories, the first thing to jump to mind would be pictures, techniques and tools and maybe another category for webpages and maybe if I can subdivide the webpages page into pages for pictures, techniques and tools : )

Good for business – sanity for one.  I have several hundred pictures of my work and the process of building them.  Organizing them  in and of itself keeps me mentally challenged.  So a category for that is a must.  And that should have categories…  Maybe I should start a wiki?

So, to complete here…  Categories will help my followers find what the need/want…  Simple as that.  However, will categories work for ME?  I don’t know yet.  As I hinted, I want categories in categories…  I am not sure that they will do that…

I have a headache after playing with WP for the last hour, however I know I need to go back and start posting…  So I will find out, within a week or so I am hoping…

Part II – Comments to colleagues:
Stevens, Craig BLOG
Gomez, Shelby BLOG
Kodimer, Sonja BLOG

  1. Hi Karl, you certainly have a lot to work with where you need to have things categorized. Putting things into place for easy retrieval and posting can only help. Now the one part you mentioned "Categories will help my followers find what the need/want…" I assume "the" is they, as in "find what they need/want." I think categories is something entirely for the blogger use only. The audience never sees any kind of category. Just the end result...the post. Correct me if I'm wrong about that but I think that's the only purpose of a category. Good luck with Word Press.
